There are hundreds and thousands of people on diets in this day and age. Some people who need to be because they are overweight, some who are on diets to improve their health and some who don’t need to be on a diet at all.
Unfortunately, there are increasing numbers of people of a healthy weight and balanced diet who for whatever reason (usually low self esteem) decide that they need to go on a diet. A female may pursue weight loss in a bid for a slightly thinner waist or inches off their thighs. Often people will choose a part/s of their body that they dislike and focus on that area throughout the diet. A pear shaped individual may wish for smaller thighs whilst hating their smaller upper body. They may wish to lose weight to reduce the size of their thighs but in doing so also reduce the size of their upper half too. So the proportions don’t change. The person just becomes a smaller version of their former self. You can’t alter your natural body shape through weight loss. Your genes determine your shape/frame, no amount of weight loss can transform you from one shape to another. Doing weights in the gym can sometimes help to sculpt the body but weight loss alone will not make a difference to the body shape itself.
It’s very important to remember that if you lose weight, you will lose it all over. Putting yourself on a diet when you don’t need to be could potentially be very dangerous. Without realising it you’ve staked your life, happiness and health on having a smaller figure. Is it actually worth it? For what or for who? People don’t realise how quickly an innocent diet can turn into an obsession and then a full blown eating disorder.
I am not saying that if you go on a diet you will definitely get an eating disorder but what I am saying is that you will be putting yourself at risk. A risk that isn’t worth taking…
If you are already a healthy weight and you want to improve your shape, do toning exercises. Don’t go on a diet. That’s just my advice.

Can plastic surgery bring you true happiness within?
There are many different opinions on plastic surgery and discussions about whether it’s good or bad etc. I am specifically focusing on the question: Can plastic surgery bring you true happiness within? I think for cases where someone has had an accident/ been attacked and has damaged their face, plastic surgery is almost necessary to help that person rebuild their confidence and self esteem. On the other hand, plastic surgery for vanity reasons is a completely different story because if a person feels the need to have a serious invasive procedure to modify a part of their body, they are probably lacking self esteem and body confidence. People often think that having plastic surgery will make them happy because their perceived ‘flaw/s’ will be corrected. Some people believe that it is these ‘flaws’ that are making them feel unhappy in their life. The true cause of their unhappiness could be a deeper rooted issue. In this case, even if the operation went perfectly (which doesn’t always happen) the person may still suffer from low self esteem and feel unhappy afterwards, choosing then to focus on another body part that they dislike. These people are likely to reconsider surgery multiple times because they may believe that altering their appearance on the outside will make them feel better on the inside.
In some cases I think that it could bring happiness to an individual if, for example they have been bullied because of the size of their nose. After the procedure, they may feel like a new person and that they can get closure on the past and move on with their life.
My personal opinion and answer to the question above is that plastic surgery may bring happiness to those who need it for reasons discussed above. However if a person suffers from very low self esteem to begin with then no amount of surgery is going to change the way that they feel about themselves on the inside. Plastic surgery may be seen by many as a quick solution to boost their happiness and self esteem but there are huge risks involved and it is something that a person should think about deeply before considering having anything done. There is also a risk of the procedure going wrong which may leave a person looking worse than they did to start with, which could leave the individual feeling unhappier as a result.

It’s time to start accepting compliments and accepting how beautiful you truly are : )
An absolutely ludicrous article that I found in the Metro newspaper this week..
Mr Dukan claimed that “Pupils should be able to opt for a subject called ‘ideal weight’ which they could pass simply by being thin”
He then went on to say “my idea would change nothing for those who have no need to get thinner but for those who do, it would motivate them to lose weight”
The French College of Physicians fought back stating that Mr Dukan’s remarks could “harm teenagers who are already suffering with obesity or anorexia”
I have never heard of something so outrageous in my whole life… I need say no more…
